Estimating the Work Area: Once you have determined what size
square you want to cut, determining the size of the work area is easy.
Whatever work area size you choose MUST be evenly devisable by
the size of your square. For example, if you choose a three inch
square and work with only the half width of the fabric, the maximum
work area must be 12 X 12, or 18 X 18 or 21 X 21 or so on.
For your first experience with this technique you may want to only
use half of the fabric width and make your jacket out of two smaller
pieces rather than one large one. You do not have to make the
work area square. Rectangles work very well with this technique.
A good working area size is 18” high X 21” wide when using a 3 inch square.
